Motivation
Ralf Rangnick
Sports Director
Team manager of the Austrian national team and a visionary of football.
He himself played actively for SV Unterweissach, his home club FC Victoria Backnang, VfB Stuttgart, VfR Heilbronn and SSV Ulm 1846, and dedicated himself entirely to professional sport after completing his teaching degree (sport and English studies).
Together with his mentor Helmut Gross, he developed the doctrine of ‘ball-oriented spatial coverage’, an active style of play focused on the collective hunt for the ball, which revolutionised the game in Germany and still has a lasting influence today.
As a coach, Rangnick worked at Manchester United, Schalke 04, VfB Stuttgart, SSV Ulm and Hannover 96, among others, but it was as a ‘club builder’ at TSG Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig that he left his biggest mark.
With his conceptual work, expertise and passion, he led both clubs from the lowlands of the amateur leagues to the German and international top flight.
Rangnick, who was also successful as sports director of RB Salzburg, shares his 40 years of experience in an anecdotal and captivating way, and not just for fans of the well-rounded leader: managers, decision-makers and employees in business and politics also draw great inspiration from his key topics of corporate identity, leadership and continuous optimisation.
